Mortenson Dental Partners
Mortenson Dental Partners is one of the largest privately-owned dental practices in the United States. With over 100 individual practices and nine partners across ten states, they employ over 2,000 users that administer dental treatment to hundreds of thousands of patients each year. Mortenson Dental is tasked with providing their partners with the feel of a private practice along with the benefits and support of a large organization.
Mortenson Dental Partners were operating individually and as distinct practices with their email servers, email platforms, authentication systems, and address books. This decentralized infrastructure created complexity with systems integration and communication, patient documentation, and scheduling across individual practices. Mortenson Dental was looking for a cloud-based solution to enhance communication and collaboration across their practices that would also provide cost savings and long term ROI.
Tempus Nova Solution
Tempus Nova worked closely with Mortenson Dental and their nine partners to identify their IT and business requirements, security and compliance requirements, and establish integration points between their private practices and Google. Tempus Nova mapped the business processes with application functionality and designed a comprehensive change management strategy to prepare each user for the upcoming change to enable partners to make use of a larger database. We delivered training on each application with role-based training for dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental laboratory technicians, and dentists. Tempus Nova integrated individual partner directories with Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) to enable the automatic provisioning and de-provisioning of each user. We migrated mail, calendar, and contact data for over 2,000 employees over two deployment phases targeting a distinct group of users.
Tempus Nova successfully transitioned around 1600 users at Mortenson Dental Partners to G Suite. This was a very impactful business decision, as they had recently acquired a number of new dental offices. To attain more of a uniform platform, we migrated from a variety of legacy email systems to their G Suite environment. We employed a phased deployment approach across an 8-week time frame. Our phased approach resulted in reduced risk, lower cost of deployment, and optimized user experience. Tempus Nova’s Google Certiﬁed Deployment Specialists conﬁgured the G Suite domain and services for use, set up Google Vault, provisioned users, and implemented Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS). Our Google Migration Specialists engineered the migration tool, CloudMigrator, to migrate email, calendar, and contact data for Mortenson Dental Partners’ 1800+ employees from a variety of platforms to G Suite for Business and G Suite Basic. Tempus Nova’s Google Certiﬁed Trainers and change management specialists developed targeted communication to all end users to notify and prepare them for their new email platform transition. We delivered a series of trainings for G Suite for administrators and end-users in a virtual instructor-led training (VILT) format. In addition, we provided deployment, go-live support, and project management services throughout the duration of the project.
Tempus Nova’s dedicated Business Transformation team provided customer support services during and after the health system’s transition to G Suite. To date, Tempus Nova has supported Mortenson Dental Partners during their acquisition of additional dental offices, which has required provisioning and migrations of more than 150 users. We performed mail, calendar, and contacts migrations for users that were already on an existing G Suite platform.
