If you are a current G Suite Administrator, you’ve probably already seen the change. However, if you’re a user currently considering a switch to G Suite you should know… easy just got even easier!
The Google Administrator Console has recently undergone changes to make navigation and domain configuration more efficient for its users. The goal was to ensure the most important controls are front and center, eliminating the need to click through multiple screens to access some of the most commonly used options. As always with Google’s design announcements, the look has slightly changed while the functionality remains the same. The most effective way to learn about the new features is by going in and exploring Google’s extremely user friendly Admin Panel for yourself. However, I would like to point out a couple changes that I’ve found very useful.
Creating new users and working with individual user settings is one of the most common tasks an administrator will have. While it was a fairly easy task before, the amount of screens to click through has now been even more simplified. Current users’ information now appears within the business ‘card’ format, which has become so popular across all Google applications. A user’s card quickly pops up with information the administrator may need to confirm or modify all on one screen.
The other item that comes up much more frequently than Admins would like, is the ever popular, ‘I need my password reset’. Google recognized this frequent request and moved the reset password option to appear on the first screen for admins when the ‘Users’ icon is selected. They have chosen to take more of an ‘inline’ approach; meaning, resetting a password and suspending an account can be done without actually going deeper into that individual user’s account.
Again, these changes aren’t groundbreaking, but will save administrators precious seconds per task throughout the day. All of these changes, and more, can be seen by accessing your current Google Admin Console.
